The Validity of ARI – Residency permit for investors issued for golden visa (ARI) program for investment activity are as follows..
- Initial Period: 2 years from issuance.
- Renewals: Renewable for subsequent 2-year periods, up to a total of 5 years.
- Minimum Stay: Requires a short stay in Portugal, typically 7 days in the first year and 14 days in each subsequent two-year period (total 7 days in first 2 years, 14 days in next 2 years, etc.). If not met, residence permit will expire and wont be renewed.
Permanent Residency & Citizenship
- After 5 years of holding the Golden Visa, you can apply for:
- Permanent Residence (divest from investment).
- Portuguese Citizenship (requires Portuguese language test at A2 level, meeting residency/investment rules and minimal stay and no criminal record).
